The Department of Neurological Surgery utilizes cutting edge technology to provide world class care to patients with brain aneurysms and AVMs. Our goal with this group is to extend this care and provide a supportive environment for patients, family members and friends to share their experience and also to develop a support community where patients and families can continue to communicate outside these monthly meetings. We believe that sharing your experience with others and providing education on methods to cope and adapt to the changes that accompany such diagnoses will benefit not only patients but also their family and friends. At each meeting we will have a guest speaker that will give short presentations and then open the floor for discussion. Speakers are from such fields as neuropsychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, research and more!

Discounted parking tickets, as well as refreshments, will be provided at each meeting. We would appreciate an RSVP if you plan to attend.

2024 Virtual Meeting

Please join us for our next virtual ONLINE SUPPORT GROUP MEETING on Thursday, April 25 at 6:00pm

We hope to welcome new folks and trust past attendees will continue to join us as we share challenges and concerns with others who have been through similar experiences.

Meeting will formally start at 6:00PM, but we encourage you to sign-in a few minutes early to ensure you are successfully connected. (We’ll open the room at 5:55PM)

Dealing with a brain aneurysm diagnosis, either as a survivor, caregiver, or family member, can evoke a wide range of emotions. One of the most powerful aspects of the support group is the opportunity to share and learn from others who have walked a similar path. The exchange of practical tips, resources, and coping strategies can be helpful during all stages of recovery.

At every other meeting, we aim to have a guest speaker presenting medical aspects of the condition, treatment options, rehabilitation techniques, and preventive measures. Whether you’re a newly diagnosed patient seeking guidance or a long-term survivor offering encouragement, the mutual exchange of support fosters a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect.

Please be aware that these meetings are not held to offer specific medical advice, but to provide peer support and education. This is a great place for you to meet and share with others. Together, we can find strength, support, and healing.

PLEASE EMAIL:  Dave@MaineBA.org   to REGISTER  and we’ll send you the REQUIRED LINK to join the meeting either by internet video or by phone.
