Amy Lakeisha Harris Core began her life of love and light on November 26, 1976. From an early age, Amy’s morals of faith, education, and inspiration shined through. She devoted her life to Christ in her youth and was baptized in her hometown of Lee, Alabama. She later joined Greater Peace Baptist Church, where she served and worshipped while always using her actions to encourage others to do the same. In the church, Amy was a devoted volunteer, a faithful Sunday school teacher, and a vibrant soprano in the church choir. Amy discovered her passion for education early. She graduated from Auburn High School earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in Education at Troy University. Amy wasted no time giving back to the youth in the same community she was raised.

After graduation from Troy University, she began working in the Auburn City School system. It is no surprise, that along with her husband of 22 years, Thaddaus, she instilled the same pillar values in her children, Cody and Casey. Despite Amy’s sudden passing on July 18, 2014, she left a tremendous blueprint for the Auburn community to follow. She served her community in any way possible, whether as a church volunteer, Girl Scouts Troop Leader or with her organization, Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority Inc. She was a firm believer in hard work, selfless actions and lifting up those around her.
