BAF Changemakers: Erica and Ethan Nectow

Ethan and Erica Nectow of Boston, MA with their dog, Louie.
In 2018, a brain aneurysm diagnosis changed everything for Erica and Ethan, but with expert care and the support of the BAF, they found hope and healing. Now, as longtime members of the BAF community, they’re dedicated to giving back and raising awareness.
BAF: Tell us a little about your connection with brain aneurysms.
EN: In 2018, I was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, which was something I never expected to face at such a young age. Thanks to Dr. Christopher Ogilvy at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA, I underwent a successful pipeline embolization procedure and am incredibly grateful to be healthy today. That experience changed both Ethan’s and my perspectives on life and deepened our commitment to advocacy and awareness.

BAF: Why is it important for you to be an advocate for the BAF community?

EN: I am living proof of the incredible impact that brain aneurysm research and awareness can have. We know firsthand how frightening a diagnosis can be, and we also know how vital it is to have the right information and support.
Ethan and I are honored to support the BAF community in any way we can. Through his company, Pure Hockey, we’ve been able to give back by providing T-shirts for BAF’s annual events, helping to raise awareness and bring people together for this important cause. We hope to continue making an impact and inspire others to get involved in supporting brain aneurysm research and advocacy.
